AIMA held its 4th National Leadership Conclave (NLC) on 14th & 15th March 2018 on the theme "India Reimagined: Innovative, Inclusive, Invincible" at New Delhi. The Conclave was chaired by Mr Sanjiv Goenka, Chairman, RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group. Mr Suresh Prabhu, Minster of Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation, Government of India was the Chief Guest of the conclave and Guest of Honour was the Mr Jayant Sinha, Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Government of India. The following were the eminent Speakers in the Conclave who share their views in order to reconfigure the India Economy by making Innovative, Inclusive & Invincible.

Mr.Sanjeev Sanyal Principal Economic Adviser, Government of India &Mr.Ashok Chawla Chairman, National Stock Exchange were the speakers in Plenary Session who focused upon “Coding a New Growth Algorithm: Reconfiguring The Economy”. It was higjlighted that the economy is showing signs of rebounding and the Union Budget promises more reforms, public spending and fiscal discipline. The stockmarkets are booming as investors are betting on an Indian surge. However, the growth is constrained by investment challenges resulting from debt overhang and unused capacities. In general, the demand is strong but the consumption capacity remains weak. Agriculture and manufacturing sectors are still not firing on all cylinders and services sector alone cannot carry the economy. India is still underachieving compared to its potential. Given the increasing influence of technology and trade on growth, India may need to rethink its economic structures and processes and also its growth strategy.

The next session was conducted by Mr.CP Gurnani ,Managing Director & CEO, Tech Mahindra Ltd TV Mohandas Pai President, AIMA and Chairman, Manipal Global Education Services Pvt Ltd by sharing the views about winning in the Age of Disruption.Disruptive innovation has changed the game. Size no longer matters. The power to move markets is shifting from capital, assets and brands to using technology to deliver products and services faster and cheaper. However, as disruption becomes the only game in business, the disruptors have to be on their toes all the time because in this game there is usually only one winner.

Mr Akhil Bansal Deputy CEO, KPMG in India Pulkit Gaur Founder, Gridbots Technologies discussedaboutDigital Destiny: Harnessing AI and Robotics For Growth .AI and robotics are becoming pervasive as sensors and algorithms enter work, entertainment, healthcare, transportation and everything else. However, the technological revolution comes loaded with implications for jobs and society and reconciling those with technology’s powers will be critical for the new economy.

The next panel discussion session of conclave was conducted by eminent panelist Mr, Shashwat Goenka Sector Head, Spencer’s Retails Ltd. ,Tara Singh Vachani MD & CEO, Antara Senior Living Ltd.Vineet Agarwal Managing Director, Transport Corporation of India Ltd.

The theme of panel discussion was “Disrupting Family Business: Agenda for Next Generation “. Family businesses are under pressure to adapt to the rapid and unpredictable business disruptions. Typically, family businesses are constrained by the past success that sets their identity, positioning and relationships. The youngsters are more aware of the emerging technologies and the disruption that those can cause. They can use the family control of companies to make quick decisions and take long‐term bets. However, they face considerable challenges in disrupting the existing business models, governance, talent composition and culture of the family firms. In an era of shortening lifespan of companies and promoters, the longevity of their legacy depends on their ability to lead disruption.

The next session was highly inspiring which was conducted by Brahmakumari Sister Shivani Spiritual & Motivational Teacher .Leading Self to be Innovative, Inclusive, Invincible It was highlighted that our economy has radically evolved over the last couple of decades, benefiting the society. But on the flip side, every industry has felt the heat of relentless pressure to keep pace with the demands. Given stiff timelines and ambitious targets, we are practically stretched to limits. Threats of large‐scale burnouts and stress‐related disorders are looming large. Before that happens, we need to strike a balance between the organization’s financial health and employees’ emotional health.

The next speaker was Jairam Ramesh Member of Parliament (RS), Indian National Congress Who highlighted issues of Reimagining India: Building an Inclusive and Sustainable Nation India has achieved substantial development since independence and it is now acknowledged as a potential world leader. Today, its economy is among the largest in the world and it has the technological and financial resources to accelerate its development. However, India is still a lower‐middle income country with substantial variations in the capability and opportunity of its many states and social groups. The Conclave attracted almost 600 delegates from Industry, government, media and academia.
