Typically, family businesses are constrained by the past success that sets their identity, positioning and relationships. The youngsters are more aware of the emerging technologies and the disruption that those can cause. They can use the family control of companies to make quick decisions and take long‐term bets. However, they face considerable challenges in disrupting the existing business models, governance, talent composition and culture of the family firms. In an era of shortening lifespan of companies and promoters, the longevity of their legacy depends on their ability to lead disruption.
